In Latin America, the region with the highest inflation rate in the world, every peso counts. Returning lost money is an uncommon act of honesty, especially when economic struggles are a daily reality. Mercado Pago, the leading virtual wallet in the region, wanted to recognize and reward those who chose integrity over necessity.
IDEA
Before Christmas, we launched a campaign to find and honor people who had returned lost wages. Through social media and news sources, we identified these everyday heroes and invited them to share their stories. As a surprise, Mercado Pago deposited the same amount they had returned into their accounts, turning their good deeds into an unexpected gift.
RESULTS
The campaign gained widespread attention, generating organic conversations about honesty and trust in difficult times. It reinforced Mercado Pago’s role as more than just a financial tool—it became a platform that values and rewards integrity. The initiative not only strengthened brand affinity but also inspired thousands to see the power of doing the right thing.
